Renault has officially introduced the third-generation Duster in Chennai, its first major product under the brand’s international plan for India in 2027. Over 90 percent of the SUV developed specifically keeping Indian road and climate conditions in mind.
The Brand New Duster is built in the Renault Group modular platform and undergone extensive testing. It has been evaluated in extreme temperatures ranging from minus 23°C to as high as 55°C, along with high-altitude testing beyond 18,000 feet to ensure durability.
Duster Flexible architecture will also support a future seven-seater version, expected next financial year. Safety has received strong attention, with the platform integrating as many as 35 safety-related features.
Engine Options
Instead of relying single power engine, Renault offering 3 types of engines and most powerful option is a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or a six-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Below this sits a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a manual gearbox. Adding to the lineup is the Strong Hybrid E-Tech system, which combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a 1.4 kWh battery. In city driving conditions, this setup can deliver up to 80 percent electric-only operation.
Off-Road Capability & Dimensions
With a ground clearance of 212 mm and approach and departure angles of 26.9 degrees and 34.7 degrees respectively, the Duster continues to remain capable on rough terrain. However, an all-wheel-drive option is not available.
In terms of size, the SUV measures 4,346 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2,657 mm. Boot space stands at an impressive 700 litres, making it one of the most spacious offerings in its segment.
Design & Interior
Visually, the new Duster features a bold trapezoidal grille with yellow accents, full LED lighting, a horizontal rear light bar, rugged cladding, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. A new Mountain Jade Green exterior colour, inspired by Himalayan landscapes, is also on offer along with a contrasting black roof.
Inside the cabin, the SUV gets a raised centre console with an electronic gear selector, while physical buttons are retained for frequently used controls. Seats come with sculpted cushioning and yellow stitching, complemented by premium leatherette upholstery, metallic accents, and carbon-textured surfaces.
Comfort features include ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control with PM2.5 air filtration, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, and generous storage spaces totalling 32.6 litres.
Technology & Safety
The biggest leap forward comes in technology. The Duster features a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in Google services, allowing access to Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store without smartphone connectivity. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster displays navigation and vehicle information, while over 60 connected features are accessible through Renault’s app ecosystem.
The SUV is equipped with 17 ADAS functions, hill descent control, and multiple drive modes. Driver preferences can be saved and recalled using individual Google profiles.
